chuckI know this message is late concerning the 8002 SOS wiring connections. I figured out the connections from the Lionel site wiring diagrams. One wire goes to the engine ground and another goes to e-unit power. I have another SOS board from a Lionel 773 or 8606 Hudson. This SOS has three wires. One goes to the ground. The other two go to the motor field and rotor. I don't think it matters which non-ground wires goes to field or rotor. Do you have any experience in this type of SOS wiring? Thanks for your past suggestions.

SOS tender just needs to pick up power (usually from one of the tender trucks) and then there is an optional "chuff" sensor. If there isn't a chuff trigger on the loco you will need to replace one of the tender trucks to include the sensor mechanism or add a VCO circuit to provide the trigger. You can try to add a reed switch and magnet to one of the loco axles but there may not be room or keeping the magnet attached may be problematic.

I have a MPC "Sound Of Steam" Tender similar to Lionel's 8002 tender. I would like to connect the SOS to a Lionel 736 Bershire. Which wire goes the terminals or solder places on the 736 motor.I believe it would work the same as on the 8002 engine. I have a diagram from lionel for MPC bershire engines, The diagram shows the wires, but no connection to the tender. Please help.
