Ok, I have some quick(ish) questions that I wanted to run by you guys. Here they are:
Question 1) My Dad recently bought a set box from an auction and is in the process of selling it but needs some information. He believes that it was part of a Western Auto uncataloged set but needs some resources to make sure. He thougth that there was an issue of Classic Toy Trains that covered uncataloged sets (with some from Western Auto) and was wondering what issue (if any) it was. Could someone identify the issue, or provide some information on the Western Auto uncataloged sets?
Question 2) I currently have the RR-Track software that came with the MTH Railking Railware DVD. I went to try to update it to the latest version (Realtrax Track Library), but it said that no such library could be found (even though it shows up on the program itself). Do I need to have the full version of RR-Track to be able to upgrade it or is there another method than what the RR-Track website suggests? I've tried those methods and even wrote an email to them (with no reply received).
Question 3) I went to run our trains today and realized that they are extremly dusty. I thought about using the compressed air dusting cans, but wondered if the chemical used in the cans would affect the piece in some way or another. Are my concerns justifiable or is it safe to use the air duster?
When responding, please indicate which question you are answering. Any help with these would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
2. Good luck on getting any help from MTH ... a collector on here has many of their engines ... and said they never help him out with answers .
3 . No ... removing dust won't hurt the value ... but don't try to clean up or touch up any paint ... at least I would'nt .

I think I should have been a little more clear on this question. I do agree that removing the dust won't hurt the value. What I meant was whether the Air Duster would affect the piece. I know that a special chemical of somesort is used in these Air Cans and I was concerned that that chemical might have some sort of side effects on the equipment.

In answer to #2 : in order to update the crippled version of RR-Track, you must get the upgrade version from RR-Track- not MTH. The upgrade makes the MTH version into full up RR-Track. Upgrade will cost 69$. You get Lionel O and O27 track libraries, MTH Realtrax & Scaletrax libraries, MTH railking accessories library, and several MTH example layouts. I've been using RR-track since 2005, and I like it. I even got the N scale libraries, as I dabble in N scale too. Hope this helps----
