Sorry. It was late last night when I replied and did not read carefully. 027 switches will double up on the diverging route. I presume that the 42" switches will too.
What I was trying to say was that 027 switches (both manual and remote) will not double up on the straight through route without a 1/2 straight between them.
As I understand it, he wants two right-hand turnouts mated together so that a train can take the diverging route through both turnouts in the facing-point direction. If that is correct, either O27 or O42 will work.

willpick O27 42" switches should have no problem as the baseplates won't interfere with each other. Looking at the pictures in th Lionel catalog, even the O27 27" switches should mate up.

Looking in the catalog and using switches in real life is very differant. The 027 27" switches in manual version may be able to mount back to back without a small piece of track but the switch housings on the remote control versions get in the way.

I know that 027, 27" radius switches do not double up. The switch machine gets in the way of the turnout of the previous switch. I've had to put 1/2 track sections in between.
Not sure about the 42" switches.
Can I double up 2 Lionel 027 42" path right hand switches? I want to attach 1 of them directly to the right curve side of another with no sections between them. They would both be facing the same direction.
