You are a true gentleman and rare as hens teeth these days.
Consider this, you can still pay for the item by PO Money Order. You are not required to pay with Paypal, sellers are just required to accept it. Paypal keeps unreliable sellers out of the game, since it holds back funds on some transactions until the seller acknowledges receipt. A good thing. Plus Paypal is a subsidiary of Ebay.
Consider also, the seller included Paypal fees in the H portion of S & H, so you covered it already.
Free shipping indications indicate a higher Buy It Now Price, which covers the S&H, Ebay wins, everyone else barely breaks out even on BIN items

You can also send a thank you note after you receive your merchandise, and include a little somethin' somethin' in the envelope. The return address will usually be on the package.

Hi! First pay the exact amount of the transaction. Then log onto PayPal "My Account". Click "Send Money". Click on the "TO" box. All your previous contacts will pop up. Make your selection, amount and check off the "for services" box. Follow the 'continue' prompts from there.
It is very easy. Good luck!
PS If you get lost, use the PayPal "FAQ" Or "Help" section.
Be greatful that Paypay won't let you overpay.
Back when money orders were an accepted method of payment, it was my custom to give a seller a few extra bucks (the amount of my maximum bid) if I won an item for a very low bid. For example, I won a Marx 1666 for less than 5 bucks. I kicked in a little extra so the guy could at least make a little money off the deal. I recently won another ebay auction for a lot less than my maximum bid and when my wife did the PayPal thing she couldn't figure out how to pay an amount in excess of the winning bid. How can this be done? I don't use ebay often but when I do I bid what I'm willing to pay, no more, no less, no bidding wars, and if I win, that's what I want to pay. Yes, I know I'm weird but I also play with trains.
