Thanks Kurt. I'll make two sets of legs for the layout. A 40-inch set for when the layout is in the garage and a 12-inch set for when the layout is in the living room leaving just enough room for a six foot tree. All of the loops leave enough room for the tree which will rest on the base level of the benchwork. It's an adapted plan out of a Christmas issue of "Classic Toy Trains" 2 or 3 years back.

I don't know, that coffee mug looks out of scale! Actually, your layout is looking like it's off to a good start. Also like the K4 and flat. Please keep us updated.

Here is my new Lionel K-4 Pacific and Milwaukee Road piggyback car seen on my Christmas tree layout which is under construction in my driveway ( when weather permits ). The K-4 has a beautiful whistle and blows perfect smoke rings when operated indoors.

Trains are beginning to run on the Xmas tree layout as is shown on this You Tube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdySySu1E9E
The ceremonial driving of the golden screw er, ... uhh, ... spike will be held when the weather improves. Right now a warm Pacific rain storm is washing away the 3 1/2 feet of snow that blanketed us a little more than a week ago.
