I jump into this forum all the time. Course you have to be careful you just might get tempted[8D][8D] . I have a Lionel NYC Flyer and some extra cars, etc for it. I'm going to build a small 3 rail layout under my S scale layout.
Enjoy all the forums

Whatever floats your boat! Nothing wrong with belonging to multiple forums. Check out www.modeltrainjournal.com for more action. OGR is also good www.ogaugerr.com

I visit the other Trains.com forums all the time. Do not post there as of yet. I read and get good ideas from there. MR has some good secenery and etc stuff passing through there. Welcome.

There are 6 here at trains.com. How do you think I came by this humongous post count in 5 months? [swg] Trains Magazine is for real trains, MR is for the modeling aspect, a lot of HO and N scalers, but some stuff that isn't scale specific, and some good people and ideas. Garden Railways is self explanitory, and I haven't quite figured out what Classic Trains is.[%-)] And for those who are truely lost there's generic trains.com forum, for which there is no magazine. If you mean here at trains.com, no problem. I do two others all the time. I think the whole idea of forums is to jump right in. You can always lurk, but you won't really get to know the people that way.

If you do end up visiting a forum where you don't feel welcome, there are two options. Find another forum, or work to blend in and become part of the gang. If you try to do the latter, lurk for a while, and look for a topic where you feel comfortable, and say something. Keep doing that. Ask questions, let the others get to know you.[:)]
