Sounds like fun. But where would you meet? Here and there I see a mall with a vacant spot but can you rent it for a day? I think everyone would want to mark their track, engines and cars so there is no confusion when everyone packs up to go home. I really would love to see a 100 car train going down a straight piece of track. Anyone around  Minneapolis/St.Paul area want to get together?

Kinda like a "modular group" without the modules to haul around.

I've heard of something like this. There's a guy from California, I think, on OGR forum that has a really big floor/carpet layout. He invites people in the area to bring engines and rolling stock for a big run'em party. I believe he calls it something like, "Run what you Brung".

Search OGR and you should find his posts about it.  Sound like it could be a blast.

I was on thortrains website and noticed his idea called train runners.  He suggests groups of people get together with track and trains, meet at a single site and set up impromptu layouts using everyones track. Then every one gets a turn running their rolling stock on this super large layout.  I guess he is putting forth this idea for those that have equipment but little or no space to use it and instead of letting it collect dust having get togethers to run them every so often.  I was wondering has anyone on the forum heard of anything like this your area and/or participatied in one?  Anyone think its a good/bad idea?  Just wondering.
