Ives Trains
Posted by nitroboy on Friday, April 9, 2004 9:40 PM
I have come across an Ives number 3253 that has been through very rough times (fire and water damage). I would like to restore this item but I am having a hard time finding pictures of one. It looks like it was originally dark green with a maroon frame. If anyone know of a good Ives website or has a picture of this paticular item, please let me know. Thanks!!!

there is an ives set on ebay that has a 3253 engine. Search for "ives 3253" (make sure and click "search title and description) and you will find it...a very poor picture unfortunately but maybe you could email the guys and have them send some better pictures:)

The[}:)] Doctor is in! I was looking at a book in my libraray and it said that the loco in
question was one of three colors: Green, Orange or Light Brown. It was made in 1925
to 1927. Hope this helps, the photo was B/W and the frame was darker than the body.
Good Luck in your restoring the loco!

An excellent Ives website is that of the Ives Train Society: http://members.aol.com/ivesboy/ . They have a section on the 3243 locomotive: http://members.aol.com/ivesboy/l3243.html . They could probably give you any information that you need if you e-mail them.

I have a 3250 and a 3252 which are both dark (forest?)
green with black frames. The paint is original on both.
Hope this helps.
