what I don't like about the convention is that you have to register for just about everything - and NOTHING seems free, even if you are a TCA member like myself. And then add a fee on top of that to participate in the actual activity! Take the trading pits - if I have it correct, this one is free IF YOU PAY THE $35 registration fee first. So, is it free?

I guess there's underlying costs that TCA has to fund but I was really disappointed in the cost of attending things.

I agree that the convention is kind of pricey. This will be my first as I can drive to it and save the airfare.

I imagine the TCA is charging the registration fee to encourage members to attend and participate in the activities, and not just go to the trading pits.

Besides, I haven't been to any train shows lately where it's been "free" [;)]
