These locomotives are a real beaut! but I really want to upgrade them to TMCC, I contacted Electric RR and they said their R2LC is too big to fit into the boiler and that the motherboard and other items may need to be replace in the engine and the tender (they where unsure). I contacted Digital Command Products and no reply. And of course I contacted Lionel but they are on extended shut down until Jan 19th.
I know Lionel made 3 0-8-0'S in 2006 with TMCC specific electronics (6-38046,47 and 49), so I went to the parts list from their on line exploded views and none of their CPU boards are in stock or available. So now I am confused. Even if I upgraded how do I know what needs to be replaced and what does not?
1) Is there a valid TMCC upgrade kit I can buy for this locomotive or should I just sell and move on?
2) If lionel does not stock parts previously made for their locomotives. How am I going to repair other TMCC locomotives I own or bought and hoped to repair?
Well this could be a gripe with a known outcome but any help would be appreciated. What have you guys found?
