Sunday Photo - April 4, 2004
Posted by spankybird on Sunday, April 4, 2004 7:32 AM
Good morning to all,

This week we thought we would share shots of some of the hard working men on our pike.

These guys are working at the end of the yard. Note the steam powered crain.

And these hard working men are in the industrial park. Note the steam roller in the street.

By the way, do you know what the man said when his cat got run over by a steam roller[?]

Nothing, he just stood there with a LOOOONG puss. [(-D] [(-D] [(-D] [:I]

And here is my Jupiter 119 going by

We have gone to Shutterfly for our host today because the MTH webpage server is down, maybe it’s the time change. Let me know if you can see my pics. Thanks

tom

Good pics Tom. Sorry, but all I could show you this weekend is short shorts and skimpy tops. I know you, Buckeye, Elliot, Brian and Jim Duda are not interested in that type of stuff. Just trains. Pretty day here in Fla. Windy flight home they say [as usual]. Use to that bumpy flying as use to fly in L19 Birddog. You all enjoy the day and God bless you all.

Nice shots Spanky.

When I viewed your website, I noticed that you have a nice collection of old vehicles. You did a well displaying them in keeping with your theme.

I like the designs on the tender of that Jupiter.

Here's my Texas steaming thru the tunnel.

Click photos to enlarge.

Here's some unlikely operators.

Hi Roger,

Real nice pics. [8D]

I have that engine also, and love it. [:D]

Looks like some of my kids went to your house for a sleep over. I love it.

Well folks...none of the neighbor ladies had cameras so I grabbed the first college gal that walked by and she took these with her Kodak Instamatic. The University of Texas is about 5 miles from our house and at one time (and still might be) it was the largest University in the U.S., so Austin is inundated by too many College girls! Between them and all the scantily attired neighbor ladies, it really makes me miss living in Iowa.

Anyway, if ya think she did a good job on the images, let me know and I'll have her back to take some more...

Great pics Jim.

Here is a couple of pics of the old cars that we have on our layout. Most of these are Matchbox Collectable and old Dinky.

Here's the Friday morning Empire Builder just east of St Paul, passing through the town of Newport, on it's way to Chicago. It is hard to tell from the picture, but it was 90 minutes late.[swg] I always thought you had to get up pretty early in the morning to catch the Builder. I guess I could have slept in.[sigh][(-D][(-D][(-D]

This week I got Grandpa's old photo album out of the attic trunk. I thought you would like to see some photos how how it used to be in Roger's Corners, Ohio over 60 years ago.

Hey Buckeye, I ask because no one else did. What kind of track is it that you were using 60 years ago in those pics of yours? Are they really 60 year old pics?????

Let the truth be known since you asked.[}:)][}:)] [:D][:D][:D][:D] All of the photos were taken this last week or so, not 60 years ago. I used a photo program to change them to brown tone and did some cropping and that is what you are looking at.

Good croping can make a great photo. My favorite of the set is the B&O FT heading down the track.

Lehigh Valley Railroad
How did you make all that smoke in the last photo just before that locomotive slams into that caboose?

I like that blue loco. Who makes it?

No slamming into caboose, that was the train, a 65 car coal drag.

The "blue" loco is Lionels Blue Comet.
