Photo Host – where do you store your pics
Posted by spankybird on Thursday, April 1, 2004 12:34 PM
We have talked a lot about posting our pics. The first thing we need to do is Upload our photos to a host on the internet. I thought we might share who we fill is a good Host and their cost if any, size limits of the pictures or limit of pictures you can post, time limit that they hold them, etc.

When I started posting pictures, I used my MTH RRC web page. It is part of the yearly membership ($50.00 per year, which includes club car, etc). The size of pics is limited to 400 pickles wide. I don’t know the limit of number of photos you can store, but some members have a lot on their web pages

I have not had any problems post my pic on the forums form there.

Mine are in some space provided by Comcast, my ISP. Easy, and almost never a problem, unless their server is down. No extra charge, above my monthly fee, which may be kind of high, but then I use it a lot.

I'm one of the few still on aol dialup. I use their service for photos that I post here.

My website is on tripod which doesn't allow linking photos to messages.

I use WebWorkz to host my company site and slip any photos I want to post
there.

http://www.webworkzcentral.com/

They have a 100MB host package for $4 /mo.

You will need your own domain name. There are a lot of fly by night domain name providers; I would recommend the original,

http://www.networksolutions.com/

You will need an upload program. I use WS_FTP Pro. There are many choices.

You also get your own e-mail domain, so you can assign names anyway you want.

Note, that you still need an ISP (AOL, Earthlink, etc.) to access everything.

When you are able to see my photos [:D] , they are usually posted on Photo Island. When I put up video clip, that is stored on left over space from my web host provider.

I did see that Shutterfly was given a good review by one of the computer mags. I think Chief has extoled its virtues.

Hi All,

Last night I signed up with Shutterfly for one of my host. The MTH webpage sever is down this weekend, maybe it’s the time change.

I know ChiefEagle will say I told you so, but not only is it a good host for your pics, you can have prints made for 25 cents each. You can also have cards made and even a CALENDAR. How cool, [8D] a calendar with your own layout on it for around $4.00 each.

Spanky,
The calendars are so cool! One of the guys I fish with made them for us for Christmas and it was one of the neatest gifts with each month showing a different photo of us fishing in Canada.
