Practice Layout?
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, March 25, 2004 7:43 AM
Is there value in building a "practice layout?"

How many of you have done it, and what changes did you make for your final layout?

I know that all layouts are works in progress, but I don't want to spend TOO much time, effort and expense on a practice layout if I have to make sweeping changes

Thanks

I think that all layouts are practice and no one ever gets it right or is ever satisfied--nor should they be.

Think back to your own first layout. I wince when I do.

I did "practice" with track on the floor, just to test track plan and control ideas. It was quite a useful exercise. It did get out of hand, though: I think it was on the floor for seven years. Always one more thing to try. Benchwork (portable) finally did get built.
