The crossing signal is "long-long-short-long", or the international-Morse-code "Q", with the last "long" held until the crossing is occupied.  Whether this device does that, I don't know.  Some locomotive engineers are creative in the extreme with their crossing signals.

I put one in a lionel 6-8956 southern dummy U36B I had to add the pickups and I also installed a light for the cab as they didn't come with anything in them. It was basicly straight forward I believe ( can if you want open it up) but I hooked one to the middle pick up and ( had to add wire ) one wire to the metal frame as its grounded to the outside wheels. (You did get a speaker hooked up to this didn't you) . It has both horn and bell if you get bell when you push horn just reverse the wires. It will blow a crossing signal which if I remember right is 3 long a short and a long or I might have it backwards. but it was a great addition for my double U36B's as all I had was light in the motorized one and nothin in the B unit.

To answer you original question yes as long as you have everything it should have a electronic board and a speaker and a cup for the speaker and mine came with 2 pieces of double sided sticky black foam real thin one for the board and one to hold the cup that the speaker goes in I never really figured out if the speaker went face in or face out it sounded great to me either way. Confused

any more questions email me

True Blast in lionel postwar
Posted by hafner33 on Saturday, October 18, 2008 6:52 PM

Has anyone tried a Williams true blast horn in a Lionel postwar diesel ? I picked one up at York and was wondering , if I could use it in a 2354 f-3 unit . There are only a black and red wire , Dosen't have instructions with it but the guy I got it from said it could be done . I don't want to blow it up , so I will ask before I try . If not I will put it another Williams engine .      Thanks       Tom
