Hi all,

Here is a couple of picture for this week. The first is my MTH RK Allegheny C-O 2-6-6-6 going up the grade.

This is only about ¼ of my wife's doll collection. Each train cost me at least 3 dolls. [:O] Oh well, what is a man to do?? [8]

Good job in starting up the thread today.

Here is a pic I snapped railfanning near the Port of Baltimore recently. I saw many flats carrying these smallish green containers each with a small red star decal near the top. The intermodal flats were labeled USWX. I suspected USWX stood for United States Government something or other, and that these containers were going to Iraq, or coming from Iraq. I have seen many of these containers recently on different days.

Am I right?

Well...Texas may have the weather but Minnesota and Canada (and Lake Envirotex) have the lunkers...! These guys have been fighting these for over 30 minutes...! (Try double clicking the image for full size)

Can you give me a brief overview of how you do your water? My water is pathetic to say the least on my layout and my fisherman are wanting to catch some big notherns or walleye.

Buck - I presume you have worked with the Envirotex 2 part polymer product. It takes about 8 - 10 hours to fully cure (longer if the ambient temperature is colder than 70 deg F). I waited until approx 5 hours into the cure and used a 1/4 in. wide screwdriver with the blade spanwise, and drug it through the "water" in sweeping concentric circles. It has to be the consistency of Jello almost. Don't worry, if you mess up, just do another pour of 1/4 in. and have at it again. It's best to do a shallow pour on the bottom and let it fully cure - that way you can drag whatever tool you want to over it and it won't gouge the bottom. You'll learn the technique as you do it - quite enjoyable!

The thrashing water around the pike is "Water Effects" by Woodland Scenics. Just glob it on right out of the dispenser - it's just like very thick white glue and will almost hold its shape immediately. Wait 15 - 30 minutes and you can do your final shaping with it. Thin coatings of it dry clear - the thicker the application, the whiter it dries.

Hey - those 15lb. Texas black bass, 10 lb. walleyes, 30 lb. northerns and muskies love Envirotex...that's why they get so big...oil up your reels, folks!

Hi Steve,

What you are seeing is the motor housing of an older K-Line 027 turnout. I have modified the plastic housing by removing some of the plastic to provide clearance for longer cars and engines. I then covered it with brown duck tape to keep the dirt out.



Most of the switches have been changed over to the newer low profile K-line 027 turnouts.





Oh yea, FJ and G, My wife lovers her babies. She has her collection, and I have mine. Each of those babies cost about $150.00 each. That’s why I say, each engine cost me about 3 new baby dolls. But I do get my engine.

Spankybird---If you think you have a collecting wife, you should see my neighbor's wife's collection of "Ewoks". She has by her own estimate over 300 of them all displayed around the baseboards of all the rooms. Your wife's dolls are cute and pretty, but the Ewoks all look like teddy bears dressed in little Ewok outfits like in the Star Wars movie. Count your blessings. Odd-d

Well you have to remember that is only ¼ of her dolls and I didn’t show you the stuff animal (over 500) that range from Boyd to Stiffs. We are both kids at heart.

Spankybird---You should still count your blessings. My wife operates a frame shop and print business out of our house. We have so much junk stacked, set and piled around the house ....and basement....that I have to fight for every square inch of space not just for my trains but for myself as well. I finally had an addition built on the house that I paid for out of my own funds and except for pictures hanging on walls art is banned from there. Odd-d

My 7 year old son Drew really enjoys making little scenes on our layout, as well as putting together consists, and Railfanning. Drew is very creative and loves trains.

Tonight he made a neat little unloading scene, I took a picture of it, and couldnt wait till Sunday to post it.[8D] Click on it, to enlarge it.
