Getting Restarted
Posted by john lea on Friday, March 19, 2004 12:23 PM
Ive been out of HO's for so long I need to research, thanks to the forum.
Question? What have you all found to be the best and least inexpensive way to start with dcc. Since my loco's are mostly 70's brass I don't know anything about retro-fitting them with the horns, bells & whistles, let alone just getting the to run.
I like to lay my own ties, ballast & etc. Not switches, to tough to guage. I'm o.k. with the lay out wireing.

Sounds lke you've come to the right place , but the wrong forum. If you like HO you should try the Model Railroader forum. The guys here are into 3 rail O gauge, like Lionel and such.[:)]

It is kinda interesting that we have DCS and TMCC, while most other scales (except Marklin and a few others) use DCC. At one time, there was talk of using DCC for 3-rails. Don't know whatever became of that. I'm happy with my DCS and others I've spoken w/are happy with their TMCC so I guess there's not really any room for a third command system. Who needs standards anyway! (I'm being a bit facetious)

Oh Dave, rather than argue about this, take a look at this

RAK and I have hashed this out, over on the TMCC vs DCS topic here. If you decide to comment, we can continue the discussion on TMCC vs DCS .[:)]

I've seen before that arguing the merits of TMCC and DCS is a losing proposition. Those who own TMCC swear by it and those who use DCS say it is the better. It's like arguing which toy train company is best. There's really no answer to the question. it's all a matter of tradeoffs and which system or toy train fits your personality, so I try to stay out of these fruitless engagements.
