Check your hobbie shops sometimes they have them still in stock. Found my copy of "Toy Train" on the shelf in the back. Got it for around 15 bucks.

Go to http://www.ronsbooks.com and run a search for the exact phrase "toy train repair" - I just bought two copies at $16.95 each, w/free shipping!  Seriously!

It's a decent book but those prices are insane. 

BTW, there is a Canadian site with the book going for $18.33 plus $9.31 S&H (later seems a bit high).  BTW, you could try checking your local library to see if they have the books and then photocopying whatever info you needed.

It looks to me like Ray L. Plummer's "Beginner's Guide to Lionel Toy Train Repair" is also selling for incredibly high prices($150+). Although it's a decent book, I certainly wouldn't pay that much for it for it. I think I paid $10 for my copy off of Half.com.

I wonder what it is that's making these such books so expensive. It looks like Kalmbach could make some big bucks by reprinting them, as there certainly seems to be a market if people are paying in the neighborhood of $100 for $20 books. 

I'm also beginning to think that it may be time to cash in on my copy of the Beginner's Guide.

I recently wanted a copy of "Toy Train Repair Made Easy" by Ray L. Plummer.   I found two on line.  Both were at Amazon  One new one at $95.00 and one used one for $250.  When I checked this AM the $95 one was gone.  For insurance purposes you might want to up your RR library value.
