Does anyone know if the P&W has been done by any of the importers? Wondering about motive power, cabeese, and rolling stock.

Thanks

Lionel did a P&W box car I don't remember if it was a 9400 or 9700 series. Atlas O has the 89 foot Intermodal Flat car in P&W. Don't know if any engines were done.

Check the MTH 2004 Volume I cataloge page 93 Premier top right. There is a P & W Railroad 50' Box Car #20-93168 manufacture's suggester retail $44.95. Lionel has also made box cars #9415 in 1979. I also have a flat with trailer by K-line. I am sure there are other offerings....and perhaps some club cars? I live in Shrewsbury MA and have to admit I am pritty ignorant about the P & W even though I drive by their offices in Worcester often. There is a group that has a show out towards Webster at the VFW? once a year. I also saw an article in one of the magazines about the road. What is your interest in it? I wouldn't mind learning more about this local Railroad.

The P&W runs intermodal trains into Queens NY over the Hellgate Bridge via the ex New Haven. They interchange there with the New York and Atlantic.

Do your own. I have had custom decals made and painted cars and engines to my own road lines. Not hard at all and looks good. Became fun to me. Sometimes you can get "off" named cars and engines cheaper but still good quality.

Thank you very much for the replies to my question. I appreciate the input.

Paul Goodness, my interest lies in that I am moving to Rhode Island soon. I went to school (URI) there and it got me to thinking I haven't seen much in the way of P&W stuff.

I have a great interest to go railfanning in Worcester and to visit the tunnel nearby - I forget the name.

Moving will hopefully provide a place to put the layout back up and get those trains out of storage and onto track and display shelves.

I also will look into getting involved with the displays at the RR station in Kingston RI. This is a great place to watch the Acela roar by as this is the area it hits the highest speed on the journey from Boston to DC.

When my move happens, I hope to meet other modelers and railfans in the RI and surrounding areas.

Thanks again for the input.

The Union Station in Worcester is also a place you may want to visit. It has been restored and houses a Jazz Club and Restaurant and soon a coffee shop. There is the Port of Worcester yard for intermodal traffic. Boston is only a short train ride away also. I am open to meeting new people. You can contact me at goodnesspaul@aol.com or by phone 1-508-756-6000 if you are headed into Worcester. Best of luck with your move to RI.

I love this hobby!

Paul, thank you for your very kina offer. I will take you up on your offer and perhaps we can meet for some railfanning. The station (with Jazz club!) sounds like a great place to spend some time.

Blueline, I had no idea they ran over the Hellgate. I also hope inbetween jobs to visit the hellgate and take a day for railfanning / picture taking. Maybe I'll get lucky and see a P&W going over that great structure.

There was a quote on another forum I'd like to paraphrase: Without other people, trains are molded metal, it is the PEOPLE that makes this hobby so great.

True words indeed.

Paul, looking outside at the snow again, with more to come tomorrow. ;(
