That'll work because the actual heat generated in the wire element is based off the resistance/length of wire and the shorter you make the wire the more current goes through it and thus the more heat you create. Probably shortens life, but a short term fix is a good and sometimes permenant fix ;)
My smoke unit burned coil burned in two and I decided to take the smoke unit apart to try and fix it myself for the first time.I took the unit apart a few times before and was alittle afraid of messing with it, but I guess this is an example of no guts no glory. I unraveled some of the wire where it was burned in two and twisted them back together. I didn't expect it to work but to my surprise it smokes better then any of my other engines even my MTH. It is burning the leftover smoke pill residue left in the chamber and it has a funny smell to it. No guts no glory.
