Going to subscribe to CTT magazine...
Posted by FJ and G on Friday, March 12, 2004 8:37 AM
...used to pick it up at the store but now that I'm using this forum, I'm going to put in a subscription, as soon as I find their phone #. CTT and OGR are both good magazines, but now that I'm here, I want to support CTT in every way I can.

Done. Did it online. In addition to CTT, kicked in Great Model Railroads, which is my favorite.

I believe this is a good way to support the form. I have been receiving both magazines since I re-entered the hobby in 1997. The subscription go out to 06 or something like that.

I even have copies of Model Railroader from when I was a child. One full year 1965 with the envelope that they were sent in.

I am a person with a very active inner child. This is why my wife loves me so. Willoughby, Ohio - the home of the CP & E RR. OTTS Founder www.spankybird.shutterfly.com

I actually enjoy my annual phone call to Kalmbach to handle all of my subscription
re-ups, binder orders, Great Model Railroads, Layout Planning, and any new books that may strike my fancy. Their customer service people are very good and fun to talk to.

I have EVERY ISSUE OF CTT, Every MR back to January 1950, and started with Trains Magazine a couple of years ago when I found out that an old friend of mine had become the editor.

Oh yeah, I have almost 100 issues of OGR too.[swg]

I have almost the complete set of CTT, only missing the first issue and darn if I'm going to pay $30.00 for it. Been subscribing for about 6 years.
Also have a subscription to OGR and have all issues since #128.
Like others have stated, they both have their own unigue niche here in o gauge.
Also I have the priviledge of living about 8 miles from Kalmbachs offices. I have stopped there several times to pick up CTT magazine binders.

You can never have enough information with this ever changing hobby!

By the way.... Hello David Vergun! I'm the "yardmaster" from the other forum.
Thanks, Butleryard. IF YOU CAN READ THIS, THANK A TEACHER! IF YOU ARE READING THIS IN ENGLISH, THANK A SOLDIER!

I enjoy looking for back issues at train shows. Got lucky at the Raleigh GATS
show last year found #2 issue of CTT and some others. Many of the older mags
from the 50s&60s have great stuff in them as well.
Thanks

I just re-upped with the $21.95 special, after having let it lapse for a couple of years. Other than that, I have every issue except for the first one.

Also, I once saved every issue of every hobby-related magazine I had. I had issues of Trains, MR, R&R and others, many of which were decades old, and many of which I picked up used, when I was getting back into the hobby in the late '80's. I ran out of storage space last summer, and decided to review the collection, keep what I wanted, and donated the balance to the Illinois Railway Museum, for resale by it in its used book store. If they sell an old magazine for a dollar, that represents one dollar of pure profit to the museum. Just a thought.[^]

Not only a great magazine but also a GREAT staff. For several years I would pick-up a copy every now and then at the hobby shop. For Christmas my daughter gave me subscription to "Model Railroader". Since CTT more closely matches my interests I asked the publisher if I could switch the subscription, result no hassle no problem presto chango.
I am one very happy reader !!!!!!!!!!!!!
