RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Ok , I don't really like the dark colors on the 182....
Rustoleum American Accents Craft and Hobby Enamel 209678 Silver...something...(was covered by a price tag) $3.99 for 3 oz. Small amount of metal flake dries very fast, and has a semi-flat finish! I found it a Meijer. Closest I've seen to an origional color!
All of you can start breathing again...I'll make it look origional.

I ended up repainting a Lionel 182 Crane, with something other than the origional color. I bought it rusty, but am now unsure of the results. My next plan would be to weather it.

Thanks,
The colors are "good enough" for any layout. I don't weather my accessories because it affects their value. I do modify accessories, but not in a way that is irreversible.
The more scenery I do I lean toward the Hi-Rail end. I do enjoy the O-27 look and feel of the Lionel PW trains and cars, but I am looking for more out of my scenery and accessories. May ultimate goal is be to blend the toy and the reality.
I hope that makes sense.
