Check your track power connections.  The rail for the stock car pickup is wired to the fixed voltage post the metal wheels of the stock car should be on the rail wired to the Base post. If they are on the rail that is connected to the variable voltage post the car will not vibrate properly.  If this is the problem either reverse the track wiring or reverse the metal wheels on the truck of the stock car.

Regarding the AF stockyard and stockcar and stockyard. I have cows going up the ramp to the stockcar but once they hit the stockcar nothing happens. I have AC power to the track, but the stockcar does not vibrate to move the cows to the back of the stockcar. Does the metal rail that locks the track in play a roll in the power flow along with the wheels?

Yea, it is kind of like the cows in West Virginia, their legs are shorter on one side from grazing on hillsides all their life.

Hi Ted,

The 936 Stockcar works with the 771 stockyard.  The mat in the car vibrates making the cows move.  They can go in either direction in the car.   In the stockyard the black cows go in the left side and the brown cows in the right.  The black cows travel in a clockwise direction and the brown cows in a counterclockwise direction.  This done by the direction of the nap of the pad under the cows.  The Stockyard has a rotary switch the operate the stockyard and a pushbutton to activate the car.  To get the cows to go in the car position the car with the door by the ramp open and the other door closed.  Open the gate to the ramp and the cows go up the ramp into the car.  It is really neat.  I noticed the mat in your car has an issue.  The mat may be able to be fixed.  The mat must lay flat and be able to shake or vibrate.  The shell can be removed by removing the corner pins.  You may need to remove the mat from the car to flatten it, or replace it if needed.  They are available from shops like portlines.

           Unlike the Lionel 3656, the Flyer cattle car permits the cattle to enter or exit through either door.  However, the vibrating mat in your car has a problem by the left door.  Jim (sturgeonphish) will be be able to help you more than I can because he is more familar with the Flyer cattle corral.

Hi ALL!

I have this AM Flyer 976 Operating Stock Yard Car. I have the Cows also. So, I don't have instructions for this. I'm trying to see if the thing actually works!!?? I don't have a track set up. So all I can do is bench test it. So, I apply AC power to the Trucks and that Pick-up rail thing. It does Vibrate....IS this what it's supposed to do??

 I have assumed that's what it's supposed to do. Now which way do you feed the cows into the car? On the Left there is this sort of elevated ramp thing. So, just what is the idea here, feed the cow on the left than it vibrates thru the car and out the right door? Basically...just what is supposed to happen here??
