Prototypes from the 40's,50's,60's,70's covers everything from steam to diesel and electric. Besides, I still like what I grew up with the best, and why not? It was a happier time for most, and I enjoy the memories they invoke.

I'm kinda amazed that so few layout operators are focusing on contemporary railroading, especially considering the plethra of SD90s and Dash-8/9s coming from nearly every O gauge manufacturer. Yes, the modern locos seem to be a bit blockish, but how can you not like the brilliant paint schemes used in the 1980s and 1990s? (BNSF Heritage, CP Beaver, Amtrak, SP, and many more)

Anything that can be headed by a GG-1, i.e., PENNSY, PENN-CENTRAL, AMTRAK, CONRAIL.

I grew up in the 50's in north Jersey. My dad and I spent many a weekend day sitting aong the tracks just south of Newark watching all kinds of trains go by. I've been a railfan all my life and really enjoy contemporary railroads. My roster of trains is based upon trains that I have actually had some contact with... Amtrak and the Rio Grande ski train in Denver, Burlington Northern unit coal trains, BNSF double stacks acorss Kansas, Norfolk Southern auto racks moving through St. Louis, the New Jersey Transit Shore ine etc.

Well you lonely alowed me to vote once, but I have two layouts. The main layout is somewhere around 1915 to 1920. I love steam. My second layout is a circus layout around 1965 to 1970's. But you still see steam engines pullling the circus train.
