Dave,
I remember your post, and it was NOT offensive! You had indicated that in most computer places it is considered etiquite, not to use caps. And true that is. However as being discussed in this thread, things are relaxed here. We're for the most part not worried about spelling, grammer, typos, etc.. I usually post bold so I can quickly find the last post I made and read forward. Lots of guys have developed their own flag.
The other thing, was the timing, unbekown to you, there were some other things that happened, and your post came in just at the wrong time. Also, the guy on the other forum that you mentiond, really is NOT the same person. May appear so at first glance but really they are not.
So, don't be a stranger, come on back, post, get to know us. And be careful you could become the subject of a few laughs, like all of us. You are certainly welcome here!!!
And before anyone else says it, don't take what I say to seriously, except this post.
Don
I visit, participate in, and enjoy both this and the OGR forums. If I HAD to make a choice, I'd go with OGR because it's FAR more active than this one.
For the past 3 years, I've read "are'nt we wonderful" threads on this forum. I never recall a "we are better than the others" topic on OGR. I agree that "hot" discussions take place on OGR, and I'd guess it's because of less "peer pressure" there. Joe

I don't even care what font people use, and if they resort to name calling I won't respond because it won't take long to tell who the trouble maker is.
If they disagree thats cool. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Have fun.

I still like my NCE.
I agree with you.
I too recently posted about a Gentleman here who used caps in all his posts. I was mauled as well, with all manner of justifications cited. How dare I make such a comment!
I thought the post innocent enough.......consistently speaking in caps is annoying to a reader.
Interestingly enough, on the "other forum", this same Gentleman posts reguarly and never uses caps.
I find the folks here rather sensitive to opposing views. Getting along requires going along.
My observations only.

I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
Seems to me that there is a lot of "sniping" on OGR.....
Just an observation...

There is a good mix of truely toy oriented layouts here (a simple loop on carpet), highrail detailed layouts, and everything in between. People here understand that it's just as much about having fun running trains as it is getting in every detail right. That appeals to people like me who do not have many skills yet.Wes

On here I can ask a question or post an opinion and I don't get people explaining things to you as if you were a child or an idiot.
Many times this is the best way to explain things...in simplist terms. Without knowing the level of knowledge from the question asker it's best to start simple. Maybe that's not what you meant though.
I like each forum for it's unique qualities. But the folks here are very nice.
