The advantage of making your own is that the Lionel one is very short and just makes the giraffe dip his head for a brief moment. A longer trip will make the action more noticable.

Interesting idea!  I'll keep that in mind!

You can also try Jeff Kane at:

I recommend him as do many others. Just for you info, the tell-tale is just part of the activation. You can actually make your own trip for either the giraffe car or the elephant car with either a piece of brass wire bent with a slope at each end, or with a piece of wood.

Good morning! I would try Jean at HOLLASTRAINS@AOL.COM. They have helped me with all kinds of parts, if they don't have them they will find it for you. Just shot them e-mail with your info!

Good luck!!

3376 Bronx Zoo Giraffe Car parts?
Posted by marmelmm on Thursday, March 6, 2008 6:22 AM

I have a 3376 Giraffe Car (early version, dual coupler) which is missing all the internal parts save the giraffe.  Where can I find all the replacement parts, as well as the activating pole?

Thanks!
