Erie AA Freight Set Consist
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, February 8, 2004 10:15 PM
In 1954 , I believe it was Santa brought me a Lionel Erie Alco AA diesel set with 027 track, 1033 transformer , uncoupling track, and I was in Heaven.

I still have the Engine, and caboose. I am trying to recreate the set and I remember It came with a twin dome Sunoco Tank car, and I think it came with a Lionel lines yellow cattle car (small body) . I have the original catolog, but haven't been able to find it in the pile of boxes yet to be unpacked after my last (and I mean last move) . I have bought the tank car, a black LV twin hopper, the cattle car, and a ATSF "operating"box car.
Can someone tell me what cars came with the set? so I can finish hunting the train shows. TRouble is 50 years of memories, and my two other brothers also had sets, (PRR 2-6-4 steamer, Seaboard switcher set) so the cars were fgreely interchanged and I've lost track of what came with what set. I have a feeling the ATSF box car came with the steamer and I need the Western Pacific Feather River Operating Box Car. Any help is appreciated, until I find my old catologs

[}:)] Dr.Fu-Manchu, The Train Guy with information: I went to my Greenburg's Guide
Lionel Trains 1945-1969 Vol.3 Sets. The set you have was first listed in 1950 with a
2023 Union Pacfic AA Alco units. the set #is 1467W. It was listed in 1952 with the Erie
AA Alcos, 6656 stock car; 6456 black or maroon Lehigh Valley hopper;6465 Sunoco
two-dome tank car;6357illuminated SP-type caboose; eight curved and five straight
track; 6019 uncoupling/operation section; and a 1033 90 watt transformer. It was last listed in the 1953 catalog. So your set was left over stock in 1954. the WP car was not part of the set, but what the heck! The WP car came in a steam set in 1952 and 1953,
both 027. Hope this helps, Good luck in replacing your childhood set!.[:)]

Wow. THANKS! It looks like I'm older than I thought, maybe it WAS 1951 or 52, I do know Dad said Santa brought it, as I went to bed Xmas eve no train, no tree. When I woke up Xmas morning A tree was up with a 4 by 8 layout under it ! And SAnta ate the cookies and drank the milk Mom left for him! Now it looks like I've got the whole set! I wonder what that orange ATSF box Car came with ? I always thought it came with the forst two 027 sets (steam & Diesel) .

Anyway YOU'RE THE MAN! thanks again
