Well, like I told all of you before, the layout is in a 19ft. x 15' 6'' room. The layout is 15 feet by 14 feet. We completed the benchwork last weekend. I have been working on getting the control stand set up and wiring. Waiting for my track to come in tuesday so I can get started on that. (All of these pictures are taken with my iPhone which has a 2 Megapixel camera, so they arent crystal clear..)
Well, watcha think?

Nice job GRAYSON, keep us posted.

Very Nice,
It looks like a railroad empire in the making. Will you have to duck under to get into the interior?

Thanks guys!
Yes, I will have to go under the layout to get inside. Although its not a problem for me, I can get the exercise!
Hello Grayson:
Nicely done! I can't wait to see the track laid down. Do you have a rendering of your layout? What kind of track are you using?
Regards,
John
magicman710 wrote:Thank you John! The track will be a double mainline loop. In front of the control stand will be a siding that will have a lionel intermodel crane on it. The track is MTH ScaleTrax.
please post how you like the scaletrax track!!!! give us a report after you can run trains on it, how load is it, how easy is it to snap together,,, how are the switches.... i have been thinking about it but im not decided yet.

Thank you Chief, and yes, I will. I will.
Grayson,
Please continue to post pics of your project when you can. Can't get enough of them.
You're going to have quite a lot of great running footage. The space you are using convinces me that if you've got natural light, you're in a good place.

Looks like well built benchwork. But boy, you sure have a lot of unused space in the middle! Add more benchwork!

Maybe some "modular" section later. If so, plan a switch or two in your track plan.
magicman710 wrote:Thanks fellas. Jim, always room for FUTURE expansion!
I wish that was true up here. No room for future expansion. I have room envy, Grayson!
Good job Grayson. I wish I had that much space to deal with.
Keep us posted on your progress.

Now that is an "inky dinky". Through the wall and along the back wall of the other room and then back in.
Grayson, REALLY FANTASTIC !!!!!! LOOKS LIKE ITS GOING TO BE A LOT OF FUN. BETCHA CANT WAIT !!! YOUR DA MAN !!!
Don
Grayson, thats some great looking benchwork. Very clean cut and sturdy looking. That looks nothing like my past attempts at bench work when I was younger. My past attempts looked like the club house from the little rascles when I was finished
When I get to starting the benchwork sometime in the near future Ill be contacting you.
Keep us posted!
Viewing that benchwork tells me a story about it's assembly!
AWESOME!
I may just adapt my own space to that style of construction.
Does your LHS stock ScaleTrax? When I was planning my layout I ended up choosing Atlas partly because of its availability in my area (Two LHS' carry it in stock). One of the stores was willing to get any ScaleTrax that I needed but they did not stock it. I really like the lower profile of the ScalTrax and the thinner center rail. Keep us posted on how it works out.

Thank you John! The benchwork is quite easy to make, but I will help you with anything you need! The acutal design for the 3x8s was from the 2x6s in the front. The are actually crates that my sister's hair salon stuff came in. The were pretty cheaply built but we reinforced them with 1x4s and screws. Keep us updated on your benchwork and good luck!

John,
No they do not supply it. I ordered my track from several different sources. One of the sources had a sale - $2 for a 10 in straight and $25 for switches. (Sadly the only had one )
Hello Grayson!
Looks like a terrific start for your layout. You'll need some Crossing Gates, a Block Signal or two, a Gateman, Rotating Beacon Tower, & a Floodlight Tower for some action. Excellent Job there! Take Care.
