To "Berk765",

"York" is the largest Toy Train show in the U.S. and is in York PA, off I-83 between Harrisburg and Baltimore.

It is put on twice a year, in April and October, by the Eastern Division of the "Train Collectors Association".   You must be a Member or Guest of a Member to Attend.  They rent the entire York Interstate Fair Grounds and run from Thursday Noon to Saturday at 2 PM.

Average attendence is 15,000 members with over 2,000 tables and displays.  Lionel, MTH, Atlas, Weaver, Williams, and most other companies are members and have large displays of there products. You can  not see it all in a day, www.easterntca.org

Thanks guys,

Wes,
Sorry but I didn't get this before I left work this morning (11:00), I'll be on the look out for it during my ventures.

I know this is probably a stupid question but, what the heck is York? Is it a huge train show? Do they ever have one in Tennessee?

Just got back around 8:30. Headed up this afternoon to do my targeted acquisitions. Got everything I needed, except didn't go through the Scenic Express display, need time to do that so will do that first thing tomorrow.

Didn't see any of the crew... guess they were gone by the time I arrived at 6.

Met up with John Fullerton - jefelectric in the Orange Hall today. It was good to see him and chat for a few minutes. My buddy and I walked thru Orange, Brown and Purple. Tomorrow we will catch up with another friend from college and then hit the Blue, Silver, Red and Black halls.

Take care,

Mitch

All of the buildings have some  Postwar Lionel O gauge, probably Orange has the least as it is mostly new stuff.  Other than that you just have to walk the aisles and look, that is the fun of it.  Prices vary widely.

Well,  I'm going to go and get all the stuff I bought at York last year and put back in the boxes.  That way I can spread it out on the living room floor and just reminisce. Sigh [sigh]Sigh [sigh]

Since it has been a while since the time for the Friday "outside the Orange Hall" meet has been mentioned...

See you guys there around 1 pm at the CTT booth and then outside for the traditional group shot! Fife will have his bunny ears....?

Well, if I had not gotten involved in a meeting later this week and did not have the parade on Sat AM, I would still NOT be going to York.  DR. has bassicly put me on house arrest for a few days.  So I would be canceling reservations anyway.  Missed the big County [SPCA whinners] Animal Control Meeting this afternoon.  Sigh [sigh]  Sometimes you have to say NO.  Sorry.  Maybe the fall. Smile [:)]  Really was looking forward to meeting the gang again and meeting some new ones.  Wanted to really eat Brent's FREE food. Dinner [dinner]

Joe, Thank You very Much!!! Big Smile [:D] Big Smile [:D] Big Smile [:D]

I called the store and first they said they couldn't find it in the computer, than they went back and looked for it on the shelves and found it. I ordered the car and it should be on it's way to me on Monday.

Thanks a bunch for keeping an eye out for the car while you were shopping. I've searched that store's on-line catalog in the past, and the car didn't show up because it wasn't listed in their computer inventory.

If I ever make it back to a York meet, I'll buy you a beverage or two of your choice.

I'll keep an eye out for one. I'll be there for 3 days, but I'm not sure how much "free time" I'll have from helping to run our modular layout in the Black Hall. Joe

Thanks, Joe. That would be great! Keeping an eye out for the car is a good way to put it. I should have phrased my original post better. If you are walking around checking out the tables and happen to come across the car, it would be fantastic. I don't expect you or anyone else to actively go looking for it. Enjoy York!

I found one today, and have sent you a email. Joe

Hi Joe:

I'm looking for the Southern Pacific Daylight Vista Dome Car, K4588-0411. It was sold as a single car. K-line sold a train set with an Alco diesel engine and a few passenger cars in Southern Pacific Daylight colors. They also sold 3 add-on cars separately boxed, not as a 3 car set. They were in the blue boxes with silver trim and say Streamliner on them. The cars are considered O27 and are all around 13 inches long. I have the set and 2 of the add-on cars I picked up on ebay, a combine car and a diner car. They were around $20 and $30 each for the cars. I've been looking for a few months. I've seen plenty of the vista dome cars painted in other flags on ebay, just not the daylight.

It is a K-Line streamliner passenger car circa mid 90's. It was an 027 13" long car, so it shouldn't be too expensive, I just haven't been able to find it. I can provide the particulars if someone is willing to look for it.

I have 2 sets of these, PRR and ACL. What roadname are you looking for? I think you'd be better off looking on eBay...that's where I got one of my sets. I've seen a few of them at York, but they were "premium priced". I bought the 4-car ACL set from a train store for $125, the PRR set on eBay for $80. Joe

I was wondering if someone who is going to York might be willing to look for 1 item for me? Maybe someone who spends a few days there and likes to look around at all the tables. I live too far away to make the trip without large travel expenses.

I don't post very often, but I've got good feedback on ebay for a reference.

Thanks for your consideration. Smile [:)]

Ralph,

You should be able to find all of that stuff, maybe not at the same dealer, but it will be there.  Scott's odds and ends will have a display for sure.  I have seen electrical items at various displays and tables, can't remember exactly where.  Sigh [sigh]  That's half the fun of York, hunting for what you want and in the process finding other stuff that you didn't realize you needed.  Just bring lots of money. Does anyone know if there will be a dealer or two at York that offers electrical components, like relays, barrier strips and the like? The things that one needs to make this stuff work!
