Yep, I've thought that too. Just felt it might be nice to actually have more than two engines that I didn't have to repaint. Certain ones warrant it, like the unpainted Lionel Industrial Switchers of which I have done for myself in Conrail, Norfolk Southern, Jersey Central and Lehigh Valley. I also heavily modify operation of those. But the BEEP's do look nice as is, so I'm hoping... of course I don't really need another engine. If I found a BEEP at a blowout price, I'd repaint one. Otherwise I'll wait. And that's become my method now. I buy only blowouts and used, unless it's offered in a road I really want. So obviously, I don't buy much new stuff these days as there is so very little offered in traditional size in a current road other than Union Pacific. Either that or it's a Conrail blue box car. You'd think by the way the mfgers. offer blue CR box cars that Conrail must have had thousands of them, when in fact they had just ONE. There were far more done in PC green.
And what little is made, like the new Lionel NS and BNSF flats with CAT trucks are way way way overpriced at $60 list. I've bought near identical CAT trucks for under $10.

I remember the "little engine that could". They are kinda cute. I hadn't heard that they were making a comeback again though, but as you might be able to guess by now, that sort of thing isn't really my style. If I was you, I wouldn't wait for them to make your favorite roadname, just buy one and paint it yourself.

Some of you may have seen the Ready Made Toys engine called the "BEEP" with a very attractive list price of $50.00 (what other engine comes with that list?) It's really the old Kusan/Williams tooling of a shortened GP-9 switcher. They were originally run by RMT in PRR (Br. Green), UP and Milwaukee Road in 3 different road numbers. I've seen them and they do look nice. With 2 DC can motors I've been told they run good too.
They're now adding NYC, B&O, PRR (Tuscan), N&W and Southern to the line up.
The first run had some problems with coupler swing on 027 curves which is reportedly being fixed. Just thought you guys might like to know. We'll see what Bob Keller has to say about it when Classic Toy Trains reviews the little switcher in the next issue.

I am still waiting to buy one until there is a road I want. I called RMT right away when the BEEP was announced and put in my 2ยข to see one in either Conrail, Norfolk Southern or CSX. Must be I'm the only guy in the country that likes having some "smaller" sized trains in roadnames other than the usual postwar favorites. I'm not against the old 1950's favorites... just wish someone would not totally ignore today's roads.
Am I alone or is there anyone else who'd like to see some "traditionally" sized product/motive power in a contemporary road name?
