Gold Mine Layouts

Is anyone aware of any back issues of any magazine that would show an O-Scale layout of a gold or silver mine. My brother-in-law would like to do a layout and wants some ideas. I have tried searching through the site but I am not having much luck. Most results are in HO or N scale. Any help would be appreciated.
