Postwar motor brush plates

I like installing brass tubing into the shaft hole on brush plates to make my postwar steamers smoother. Am I improving the value or degrading the value of the locos.
I definetly think it's an improvement and never want to part with my collection, but you never now if or when you will ever have to sell.

I don't think you are doing anything to the value of the trains, up or down. Collectable value has more to do with the appearance of the piece. However, if you run it enough, you may lower the cash value slightly, but it will be more than offset by the value of the enjoyment you get from running them. Sounds to me like you like to run them, HAVE FUN![:D]
