Hey this kind of thing is great. I know my traveling door layout has been on TV when I've been at shows. Trains don't get on TV much, so any little bit sure helps. And though the high tech stuff isn't for me, I know that it has helped bring in some folks, especially from other scales.
Just remember (if they don't tell you what they want) to talk and look at the camera. Folks who have never been on TV can be intimidated by it... they tend to look at the reporter asking the questions. One thing I know from being a photographer and also being on TV is that the camera really picks up on whether you are nervous or not.
Good luck.
