K-Line Scale Mikado, Owner Comments
Posted by dougdagrump on Sunday, January 11, 2004 7:05 PM
Have been considering the purchase of a K-Line Mikado but unfortunately none of the shops in my area carry much of an inventory. Looking for as much info as possible, 2 or 4 traction tires, power for pulling loads, etc.
K-Line seems to have a pretty good product with regard to some of the rolling stock that I have.
Any and all info greatly appreciated. Thanks
Doug

Doug: I have a K- LINE Mikado purchased from Western Depot. It looks and runs excellent! Mine has been clocked at about 8 mph in conventional mode. I believe it has two traction tires. It is pulling a miixed consist of 12 cars. Theoreticaly, it should pull about 97 cars.

Hi,

We ran a review of the K-Line Mikado in our October 2003 issue. We also have a live-action video of one of our test engines posted in this website. Check under reviews.

I took the plunge and bought the Mikado, first TMCC as well, excellent decision. However, when I opened the box and read the paperwork I was a little perturbed to find out I would have to take the tender shell off to install the battery. Turned out it was a blessing in disguise, one of the chips (TMCC/RS ?) had fallen off of the motherboard. I probably would have been pretty grumpy had I not found this and the engine not functioned correctly.

Hey Bob,

I can’t view your reviews with live-action videos using this 1.8GHz Toshiba. I am running Windows XP, and I loose network connection. I get Windows Media Player error C00D0029.

Does that mean that a normal modem can’t be used?

Richard
