I don't know anything about your accessory in particular. But there is an interesting article in the September, 2002, CTT that gives the history of roof arrows, both in the prototype and on models.

Does anybody know anything about this A. C. Gilbert American Flyer accessory? I have one that I bought in the mid-1960s for my Lionel layout. It has a conveyor that dumps "barrels of molasses" (about the size of Lionel milk containers) into a waiting railcar (not part of the accessory). The motor is hidden in the "molasses shed." An interesting feature is the arrow on the roof of the shed that points to the "airport." I haven't been able to find any information on--or even a mention of--this accessory in any American Flyer price guide or anywhere else.
