Lione BB-1 trouble
Posted by PhilaKnight on Monday, September 10, 2007 4:33 PM

I have the Lionel BB-1's and I started to notice yesterday the TMCC is starting to act up. I have to keep resetting the engine by pressing the Aux1 and 0 to get it to work. She just stops listening to commands. And I also noticed after about 15 minutes of running when I stop it and go to start again sometimes she might need a little nudge to get going. I thought I read in a previous post about this nudging thing but was unable to find it. Anyone have any ideas what's going on.  Only thing I did was change the ID number.

Maybe you have a item with the same ID so it is confusing TMCC?

The first thing to check with any TMCC problem is the Loco's antenna. Especially if your other locos seem to work fine. It's a function of the 455 KHz having a relatively long wave length. TMCC reception is usually marginal due to the distances and space available. It doesn't take much to lose the signal. Check the contacts and vary the position of the antenna wire slightly in the unit. Sometimes just a little bump will fix things.

Try to reprogram it.  Check your owners manual.  You will have to switch from run to Program then hit the number then aux then number 74 then hit set, engine will toot,  Then shut off power and reset to run.. Will reset to factory specks. Check in your book because number can vary, hope this helps.
