Safety interlocking for diamond RR crossings How to ?
Posted by cruikshank on Saturday, September 8, 2007 4:26 AM

On our club layout there will be an area where three rail Gargraves track ( a trolley line ) will cross over two seperate mainlines.  I know I've read in CTT or OGR how to do this, but I'm unsure of the issue.  Could someone enlighten me on how this is best done.  The Railroad mainlines will have the right of way, and the trolleys will have to stop for them.  The railroad mainlines have traffic in both directions, the trolley line will probably have traffic in both directions also.

Follow up question does Ross or Gargraves make diamond crossings with Phantom rail track?

Thank you,  Dave

The Club layout is open to the public almost every Sunday from 12:30pm until 5:00pm.  Schuylkill Mall, Frackville Exit of Interstate Route 81,  and the intersection of I- 81, and Rt 61.  Layout is in the former Black Diamond wing of the mall, across from Payless Shoes.

Large 3 rail club layout (24x55' 6 mainlines) in Frackville PA looking for new members NOW ! Always interested in info and sites for Anthracite Coal Mines and Railroads. Looking for fellow modelers around Reading PA. Work in "N" and Hi-rail "0" scale

Dave, you're right - I recall an article about this very thing in a CTT of the past year. I'll try to find it.

Try Ross Custom Switches as they might make something for a crossover that will work with GarGraves track, GarGraves track pins fit both.  Also Ross will let you order stuff from them direct, not so with GarGraves as they refer you to a dealer.
