Found these at Target, Hot Wheels G series 1:50 scale.  At $4.50 with tax each, it's something I can afford!!!

All together now...BIGGER CARS to the front of the layout; SMALLER CARS to the back of the layout.

Joe - I have to agree with you, Yat-Ming does a very goog job of being to correct scale for the money.  As many folks here on the forum will tell you, my diecast collection is about equal to my train collection in dollar value. I have about 50 Franklin Mint and around 100 Matchbox collectables and many many others all in 1/43 scale.

When yer train rides on rails that are a foot or more high how close to scale do yer cars need to be.

I had this sort of conversation with my cousin back in the early sixties when he traded in his Lionels for HO. He said the trucks and wheels on the boxcars were too big.. I didn't care then and I don't care now.. His HO's are long gone.. my trains still run.

That is if you are considering that the cars are to a TRUE SCALE, which most lower priced ones are not.

Look at the differance in length of these cars. All said that they were 1/43 scale.

Yat-ming makes some very nice diecast cars ranging from $5.00 to $15.00 each

The three of these were made by them.

The fire trucks from last week were also made by them

I have several Yat Ming cars and they look fine to me. A lot of it has to do with placement on your layout.

As Bob has suggested, they should look fine and will also work with other vehicles on your layout. You will have to play "mix and match" as some will not look "right" next to each other. One idea is to use bigger vehicles close to the viewing area, and use smaller ones farther away from the viewer.

I would say "Close enough for government work."

I've got 1/43, 1/48. 1/50, and I think one or two oddball 1/55 vehicles on my layout and they look fine to me. The only real oddballs are those 1/64 scale tractor trailers Lionel used to put on their TOFC cars. I don't place the tractors on the pike, but will place the trailers.

I picked up a bunch of Yatming tractor trailers. In fact in the earliest of the Lionel Catalogs showing the Lionel Tractor Trailer it was actually a Yatming although the final product wasn't.

Yat-ming 1:43 cars on an 0/27 layout....
Posted by johnjay2 on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 10:40 PM

Has anyone used the 1/43 yat ming cars on an o gauge layout? Im curious if they look like the right scale. Any feedback on this would be apprecaited.

Thanks    JJ
