Rico Station, the real deal.

Has anyone ever seen a photograph of the real Rico Station? I've been all over the intenet, and the best I've come up with are drawings, and to really look at them you must pay. What I'd really like to see is a photograph (as it must be worth a thousand words). Anybody got any leads or sources? Why is something so famous so elusive?

Drove through Rico in August of 2006 on my way to a friends house in Telluride.  Use the Rio Grande Southern for your look up in Google .  Rico Station looks much like the station at Delores

That's a great shot. I have never seen a photo of the real deal myself.
Interesting to note that the cupola is missing off of the roof. Without that additional piece it doesn't look as special.

Take a look at P026102 it appears to show Rico Station with the Copula on top...

yep, it's there Brent. Looks like that pic was taken in early 1900s and by the 50s that structure seems to be gone. Wonder what happened.

Also looks like the nice trim is missing from the main roof's peak. It's there on the freight section's roof though.

Here are some other photos taken last year along the R.G.&S.

This is the water tower at Trout Lake.  Compare it to the old photos. Cool [8D]

And here is a photo of my R.G. & S. equipment running in the garden

Under the Rico Station on my layout I have a piece of the original station.  For many year after the station was torn down the remains still were around the area. The water tower is still there. Nobody can ever question me if that I got the colors right.

Some day when my Powerball numbers come in ,I plan on rebuilding the station and set my layout up in the freight section. And live in the rest of it.  Dare to dream.
