Anyone know of a good one?
I want the excursion #3985 UP but can't find it in O. I thought there was a video on MTH's website of the 4-6-6-4 but can't find it. I would have to change paint. No thanks.
MTH produced UP #3985 (black paint scheme) in 2005 in it's Premier Line. A home equity loan will probably help...
Both MTH and LIONEL have produced UP Challengers over the past decade.
Here are pics of the RailKing version

Lionel produced three different paint schemes in Union Pacific, for their LionMaster series Challengers. The 6-28077 is the Black/Graphite version, and closest to what you are looking for. The only down-side to this one (besides the $799.99 MSRP) is that the Road# is 3983 not 3985. The 6-38023 is the two tone grey with yellow lettering and striping. The 6-38093 is the two-tone grey/ silver lettering and striping, Road# 3980 ( My Favorite) I have both the 3980 (6-38093) and the 3983 (6-28077) and they are very nice running and looking Locomotives. The detailing is very nice, if not quite the level of the Std -O, or JLC series Locomotives, but also only about half the price. The LionMaster series Locomotives will run on 0-31 curves, they have TMCC and wireless tethers. These two and the LionMaster Bigboy and LionMaster Cab-Forward are the Pride of my collection, I would recommend the LionMaster series to anyone.
I am still pretty new to computers, and I am not sure how to post pics in the forums yet, but if you would like to see some pics of my Locomotives email me and I can send some to you through regular email.

Thanks for the info.
What is the difference in high rail wheels and scale? I know it is size, but for normal running is it a problem? I display trains mostly, so appearance is important, but want to be able to run the train.
I have the UP excursion train in HO with the Genesis 4-6-6-4 and Rivarossi cars. UP has 42 different cars but usual consists about 8-9 cars for a trip.
The MTH 3985 looks like the best since I wouldn't have to renumber. (If I can locate one) The next thing is who makes the best O passenger cars? I will most likely have to paint and letter, since the cars have names and not just numbers. I may have to have someone do that part as I don't want them to look homemade.
Thanks again for the help.
Hi-rail wheels are for 3 rail track, Scale wheels are for 2 rail track. Lionel did make a 3 rail challenger #3985, but I think that it was in the JLC collection, which is a very high line, their best series, and would probably be in the $1,500.00-2,000.00 price range.
