I love Baldwin diesels and purchased Weaver's Burlington Route VO-1000 with TMCC. IMHO the cons are:
1. It is very hard to install a battery (although not necessary) due to having to pry the railing from the cab. The railing was so tightly secured I gave up, not wanting to scar the plastic cab.
2. Could be due to the silver paint scheme of the BR, but the headlight shows through the plastic surrounding the headlight once you get up around 10 volts, which makes the engine look very cheesy and toy like. I guess I would have to remove the body and fabricate something to solve. Also guess that's why they call this a hobby!
3. The sound would kick out moments after track power was applied. Weaver explained it was a defective speaker problem they were aware, and quickly sent me a replacement speaker. I had the option of sending the engine back for them to fix, but chose to do it myself. New speaker solved the problem, no other bad experiences or cons.
Pros:
1. The engine is very nicely detailed for the price.
2. You get the option of how many smoke stacks to install, I went with all four.
3. Weaver repair and replacement part expidition is second to none. Weaver simply blows the big boys away with their curtious, fast service. On several occaisions they have sent me parts, free of charge with no questions asked, requested on Monday, recieved by Thursday. These folks have a lot of class!
I think you will enjoy their VO-1000, I know will enjoy the Company.

I wish she did sell Atlas, actually. I have quite a few of them now, too. I believe they are the best rolling stock out there. If Miss Edna sold Weaver, Atlas, and Williams, it would indeed be a perfect world.
I had the chance to chat with her by phone yesterday and she was kind enough to mention my appearance on local television. I never knew how many people watched Channel 5 News!

I have one and am very pleased with it.
When I first received it one of the pickups wasn't working but sent it back and it was fixed right away.
Also I had trouble coupling because of the way it gradually increased speed but was informed that when you want to use it for switching you shut off the EOB cruise
This did the trick and now it is a great little engine for switching or even as a road engine with cruise.
The price is right also.
