I'm sure you get a million requests like this, and for that I apologize, but I thought I'd ask here. Can anyone tell me the manufacturer, and approximate age of the train in the photos linked below? All I know about it is that it belonged to friend's grandfather. Any other data, like value, interesting historical slant, etc, would also be nice. Thank you for indulging me.
There are several that it could be, but to tell who made it I need more information if you can, also is it possible to post a photo showing the insdie engine cab detail.
There were many companies that made wind or clockwrok trains years ago, even British and German companies. Without more information and some close/up photos it will be difficult to say who made it.
The only thing I can tell you is that it is most likely pre WW2.

I will try to get photos of the inside of the cab.
Note, if you click on these photos, they show up very large and close and there
is a lot of detail.
What additional facts do you need? Seeing as how this belonged to a friend's grandfather, it is most definitely pre WWII. In fact, probably pre WW I. And the 4 letters on the cab
in the photo are the mark of the German patent office, so I would further suppose it's
one of the German toy makers like Bing. But that's about all I can guess at.
There are several German companies that made model trains through the years; Bing, LGB, Marklin are the ones that I can recall.
The photos do enlarge but not enough where I can see what company mark is on them.
Maybe the guy who goes by "envfocus" can help you further.
