Sounds as though the wire from the pickup roller is shorted to ground if it's tripping a breaker. It may have got hot enough in the derailment to burn off some insulation.

MTH Shay Problem
Posted by Fred Bear on Monday, July 23, 2007 8:05 PM
Had a derailment and a slight amount of smoke from the Shay, now when I set it on the track, it trips the circuit breaker in the transformer, any ideas as to what might have happened? Thanks much, Jake
