97 coal elevator
Posted by aurora351 on Saturday, July 14, 2007 7:21 PM

I found a beat up 97 coal elevator at a local flea market for 5 bucks.  It will need the collector bin in front but that should be it.  My problem is my Greensburg book doesn't show an exploded view or part #.  Does any body know the part # for the collector bin and the big black base that the bin connects to?  I've tried the lionel web site and it only lists the reproduction part #'s.

Thanks.

According to my Greenberg Lionel Prewar Parts and Instruction Sheets book, the part number for the scoop is #97-54 and the base is #97-2.  I assume that you can salvage binding posts, coils, and related parts.  If not, the scoop needs a coil assembly (#97-9).  Good luck locating these pieces.
