MTH Tires on Steam Locomotive
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, July 13, 2007 7:10 PM

I just bought my 2nd Locomotive and instructions say to but the traction tires on the rear.  I never put the tires on my first locomotive, did not notice them.   Are the tires needed and can you do camage by not using them.

Thanks

The engine will pull a lot better with tires on. I just got a MTH last week, it came with them already on plus a spare set. Look at the large wheels and see if two have them on, they look like black rubber bands. Good luck and enjoy!

When my Rail King big boy threw its tires years ago, I never bothered to replace them.  It's heavy enough that they don't make any difference.  No damage.
