My copy droped through the door this morning, 5 days before it goes on sale.
Like the article on the General.

Regards

Here's a question: by "electric trains" do they mean trains whose prototypes ran by electricity? I would think most people would think it covered electric-run toy trains in general. The cover photo suggests otherwise. Joe

Hi Joe,
Nobody seemed to be confused by the first issue, so we'll roll the dice that the word "Lionel" and the big, tinplate track will suggest the toy-like nature of the contents! [:o)]

Bob,

I have to agree with Joe. The cover wording and photo does suggest that electric prototype-based sets are the focus.

Well, I'll point that out to Roger.

Poor guy will probably jump off the roof. Well, its only two floors ...

If Roger is going to be that upset, by all means, let's keep this to ourselves. I'll even buy a copy if it keeps him off the ledge.

I think the title and picture are self explanatory. Tell Roger not to jump. I'll buy him a capuccino if he comes down from the ledge :). Also tell him I enjoy his historical pieces and the people orientation thereof.

Ah -This is where a 1688 needs to be on the Front Cover; Then there will be no confusion at all about the magazines contents.[;)][8D][:o)] Take Care.

The title in question is the second edition of "All Start Electric Trains" forthcoming, not CTT itself.

I understand that they would be "toy" trains. What I was asking was, "will the toy trains in this issue be limited to those based on electric prototypes, like the GG-1, and the one shown on the cover?". Joe

In the toy train community, "electric pattern" is a phrase usually used to describe toy/model representations of locomotives which pulled 1:1 scale trains from overhead or 3rd-rail electric power supply as opposed to steam or diesel-electric (or diesel-hydraulic) motive power.

MY DAUGHTER LOOKED FORWARD TO THE STORY ON LIONEL'S 5-STAR GENERALS SINCE THE PROMO IN LAST ISSUE. SHE WAS UPSET HER 8004 (HAS TWO) AND 8003 WERE NOT THE MAIN ATTRACTION.

I recieved my copy and I am enjoying the featured articles. Perry Richmond's layout is truly a work of art. His scenery is outstanding!

I also enjoyed the feature on Gene Kelley's S Gauge layout., another scenic knockout.
My wife took the magazine away to read the article on the General so I'll read that later.

All in all, a good summer issue!

FWIW, for the first time since they stopped shipping in bags, my CTT came damaged. One interior page and the back cover were torn (interestingly, the interior page was only about 1/3 of the way in). Not that my panties are in a wad over it: I just wanted to pint out a pretty good record.

I don't like to quote my own posts, but I have to issue an Attaboy! to someone at Kalmbach. Somebody (was it you, Bob?) read the original post and sent me a replacement copy. That was GREAT customer service: I hadn't even asked for one! So, Kudos! to the Kalmbach CS team, and a sincere Thank You! to whomever was consciencious enough to notice my post and initiate the response.

Jim,

Why not give CTT a call? I'm sure they'll send another one out.
