Jakeoregano – The Museum is in Mentor, Ohio (17 miles east of Cleveland) I add the address to the web page and will be adding a map today.

Laz – The layout will be approx 50 foot by 24 foot around the wall ‘E’ shape with center leg. Yes there is an E exit in the back of the room plus the front exits.

It would be great if you could think about having an OTTS meeting on a Saturday. I would enjoy visiting with you guys but Friday night makes it difficult to get to Cleveland. If I was coming from Jamestown I could be there by 7 but working in Buffalo makes that hard.

Hi Giz,

So is this layout to be only operated by the OTTS or is it something the museum will want to come in and turn it on for visitors when you are not there?

This gets into some interesting control issues that I have had to address. Also if the layout is to run continuously unattended (or minimal attention) - make sure all continuous operating loops are level with no grades. Grades are OK between loops for OTTS club member operations.

BTW - the other advantage of the GG for a large layout is track joints occur less frequently. Track joints are a major source of irritation for a layout such as you are planning. Thus it is simpler to have a power feed every GG track section.

I agree about the GG track. I feed pwer to mine about every 6 feet and that works really well.

This is a place that Forum Members can visit from out of State as there is a Motel Six & A Super 8 about a Eight of a mile from the museum,Plus McDonald's ,Arby's, Bob Evan's and plenty of other restaraunts nearby. And You guys can bring a train with you to run or watch one of ours run also.Take Care.

Tom, we might want to do a road trip to see some examples. Pittsburg and Olgabay Park are two that come to mind until we get the $10,000 dues check from the Chief. Then we will go see Doug at San Diego and Roy in Dallas.

When we look at civil engineering projects we consider the following:
Design
Construction
Operations
Maintainance
and sometimes, depending on the project
Security.

At first I thought LAZ might be the security consultant, but since he has not bagged anything again this year while hunting, my confidence is somewhat shaken. Chuck on the other hand has done a terrific job. Since he has been on board, the Chief hasn't dared step foot in OHIO.

Laz, old buddy and fellow OTTS member, just remember I said my confidence was somewhat shaken. I never gave up on you, but you must remember that Chuck not only has kept the Chief out of Ohio, but rounded up a herd of deer for you this year. You must admit that is a very good track record for a rookie albeit an old one.

I'm sure you wil return to form in 2006.[;)]

Two items of the utmost importance that need to be established and operational prior to starting construction and operation of the layout.
#1. Who has the largest coffee thermos, sufficient to last at least til lunch.

Colin - Hope to see you sometime & Do bring a Train to run on the Layout. It would be neat to see other CTT Forum members as well.Maybe Bruce & his Corvair will make it here also. And he can take the Corvair to Annabell's Diner on a Saturday Night & Display it as well. Annabelle's is about Two Miles from the OTTS layout site in Mentor & is another excellent attraction. They have a Classic Car Show every Saturday Night in the Summertime which is neat to see. Take Care all.
