Actually I have been part of this site since 2006 I believe it was, I understood when they replaced that one, ( even thou most didn't like it.) because the actual forum was running out of space and couldn't be made bigger for some reason. We didn't like what they replaced it with as back then you could see who actually was on a certain topic and more or less go into a chat mode. You couldn't once they did the upgrade, I believe there has been 4 upgrades since I started here, And each time it seems worst. are they trying to do better, I don't know but it sure seems not. They may be in a contract and can't get out of it. ( without paying a lot of money) The only thing is, I wonder how well trains.com as a whole, which this is part of is doing fiancially with all the cut backs, ie drop garden railroad mag completely, reduced how many issues a year of Classic toy trains, etc. I hope what I feel is wrong but who really knows, seems like there more interested in Model railroder mag as they still have 12 issues a year, Classic toy trains is now down to 6 issues a year, I remember when there was I think 10 but might only been 9 issues a year. I do not see this forum improving any time soon, and some of it could be, not enough advertising coming in, Charles roe use to run 3 pages a issue, trainworld was 2 or 3 a issue, Your lucky to see one. The O gauge hobby is getting smaller and HO/n scale seems to be getting bigger. ( as in people collecting/running them) Look at york train show, I keep hear less and less are showing up, Lionel doesn't even go all the time anymore.
Bottom line if the money isn't coming in they can't do much. Sorry to say that is the issues as I see them, I believe there doing the best they can to stay afloat.
1 added note, I would not be surprised to see this rolled into Modelrailroader mag in the future, back in the day ( when I was a kid ) any O gauge info you got was through Railroad modeler (sp) I believe that is what it was called, and even then it was more geared towards HO

Mornin' guys and gals. Cloudy, breezy 49 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. A little garden work today, then get started on our new and improved North Pole Village. I'm fortunate I have a spare garage stall to do this build. Main ingredients are 1x2 Nordic spruce boards, and two packs of styrofoam insulation (13 5/8 x 48"). Going for rigidity and lightness.
In the train room, did correct the sag condition, and actually (read unintentionally) created a slight banked curve. So the crews on my PW steamers can breath easier now... Also, fixed the wheel sets on the AF and prewar tender. Didn't want to leave a tender behind.

It's SUNNY (WHAT?) here in Central Jersey, 52F now, 70F later
1.5" of rain since Sunday - I'm way over it.
Went to Manahawkin for Jenni's niece's birthday and a good time was had by all, home by 1045. All last minute in-law family drama (I'll side with my SIL on this one).
My future SIL will arrive Saturday Night and we'll be on our way to a Halloween party that Mrs Jenni want to attend at the behest of her cousins. Looks like I'm the DD.
We'll catch up with the soon to be newlyweds Monday, the Princess hasn't seen her Sailor since April. I MAY get a van from Home Depot and empty the attic and put it all in the garage for logging in to the spreadsheet - yup, there is THAT much.
Much still to do including the dreaded basement and shed out back

Recieved a book in the mail today, "Chessie System In Color Volume 3: B&O's East End"
I've been interested in Chessie System ever since I was little watching VHS tapes of it....
Wayside - Also a Chessie fan. Lots of O-gauge, books, slides, hats, etc... I wished CSX would at least put the cat back in the C.

Windy and chilly here in Central NJ (57F as the high) - heat is on for a bit to cut the chill.
Firehouse ballroom is nice and clean, sat with the boys for a bit last night then ran home to make dinner.
Our sailor will be home tomorrow, we'll let the Princess and the sailor have some personal time and then Sunday we'll be mad cleaning and getting ready for the sale of the house.
Bedroom, shed and basement are all on the agenda (and the Train Attic).
Wedding is 11/3 - just waiting on time and place. Officiant is on board.

Nice! I love the paint scheme of the Chessie locos. I also remember watching a vhs of C&O 614 running the Chessie Safety Express, recorded off tv from an airing on RFD-TV's "Trains and Locomotives" when I was in Elementary School
Just this morning I realized it was a year on October 14th that Chief Frank Eagles passed away. I would have thought that CTT would have made mention of this since The Chief did so much to promote CTT and this forum over many, many years.
I for one remember the excitement he and his cohorts generated here on this forum.

My little homage to the Chief is trying to keep the Coffee Pot percolatin' each month. Even though folks have come and gone, some still keep a check. I miss him. I miss our telephone chats, and yes, you really had to "process" his Nawth Carolina accent. To me, his legacy is this message...When you can help others, DO so.

My grandson still remembers when his platform was a half inch higher than the Chiefs carpet central, and your playing " peek a boo" in your CTT premier. I am now teaching him to drive.

About to give up on that Williams 2530 baggage car repo, it is just junk. Going to look for a real one I guess and off this one on the bay as I got it. They are very proud of these cars, most are in the $100.00 range.

I never got to know the Chief but hearing everyone speak so well of him is nice- I may have never met him, but maybe with time I'll come to know more about what it was like to know him. It's a shame this forum isn't better cared for, but I really do enjoy the people here- and I appreciate that I have more of a choice in what personal information goes in my profile, versus a certain other well known forum where people discuss toy trains. I used to frequent the MRH forums, the people were great there and it worked well in my experience. But they mostly do scale modeling there, and well... Chief would help anybody at the drop of a hat. He gave me and there's a few others in here engines.
At one time we use to get 20+ pages a month, But there was a big blow up in here and a lot left. It's a shame as we had a good forum then.
