Evening All,

Had a good day today, got some chores done this morning that were past due.

Lizard update; mysteriously the lizard is either gone to dinosaur heaven, or has just left town.  Rumor has it someone shot him with a BB gun, and it moved verrry quicly to the underbrush, and haven't seen him since.  At least a week.

Great NEWS I was able to fix my JLC Big Boy today!  Its been a long wait, but I received the parts from Lionel, and put them on today.  (linkage on the right side.)

Was going to go camping tonight, but the trip got postponed for a week, Oh Well.

Roy, Sounds like your having lots of fun.  Just think what it will be like when your out there running around on the water.  All worth it.

8ntruck, You have a pretty smart dog, follow his advice on those hot days.

Mike C, congrats on the Minivan, sounds like the truck won't be far behind.

Doug, You guys are never happy, you get to enjoy a variety of weather affects.  Beleive me it gets boring having the same old sunny, 75-80 deg days 350 days a year.

Prayers for all those in need.

Don

Aloha. Now to DonB's delight, it is pouring rain again - and on my favorite day of the year too. That's great news about Don's Big Boy - hopefully it will be ready soon.  Somebody may soon smell that dead dino. Wow, is it really coming down - I think this is a week with rain every day - where are we, Portland? !

Hey, Happy Thursday!

Buckeye, condolences to you and your family on your Mom.

Banks, praying for your daughter.

Dougnotta......You'll make it to 10.  I'm sure you're in that 15 percentile.....

So the big Hot Wheels show was NOT what I thought it would be which sucks, was told the judges were coming and never saw a one until they had picked a winner.  Some VERY nice vehicles there, but too many "modern" and tuners for my liking.  I was the ONLY Plymouth converitble there and 1 of 2 roadrunners, the other a 73 in black, which was a very nice car!

Softball is rolling right along, last 2 games 3 for 4, 2 doubles and a single.  Winners of 2 out of 3.

Very busy at work, which is good, today, so far long stretches of nothing......and end of month is coming, which will mean uber busy.

Receieved my shipment of cars from Holly Beach and Atlas O Golden Spike Club.  Need to open them and see what they look like.  I'm sure my 2018 Golden Spike Car won't show until 2019.....

So, it's rainy here and supposed to be sunny......Not sure I believe that.  Up to the 80s later and in the 60s tonight.

Color Guard duty at the fire school tonight for our Fire Fighter 1 grads.  I get credit for fire drill for that.

Check back when I can....

I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.

Evening folks,

Got the waverunners in the water but shakedown cruise interrupted by a heavy rain storm. The re-built/re-worked lift mods worked well for first use. Will keep an eye on it first few uses.

Anj - glad the new job is going well!

Banks - continued prayers for your daughter Angel

Dougsnotta - keeping you in our prayers also - agree with Anj!

DougM - Chi-Town sure gets variety in the summer - here the variety is different levels of Hot! Cool With varying levels of hooomidity...

DonB - congrats on the JLC Big Boy repair!

Dennis - good deal on the Integra timing belt - one always celebrates good news when it comes to car repairs avoided!

MikeC - hope the truck repairs are minimal.

Good evening all,

Saw Incredibles 2 tonight.  A good flick.  Truck is home.  Work was semi-busy today.  Lots of rain.  A lot of upsets in World Cup.  Go Iceland!  I hope everyone has a good day.

Hello there,

daughter had 2nd lumpectomy yesterday. Thanks for your prayers.

Sure hope they find the "margin" this time. Shuttled her kids to and from Science Camp, a one week AP class both got invited to, yesterday and today. On standby for tomorrow, depending on how she's feeling.

Spent yesterday and today working on inside stuff, trying to get a game plan together for cleaning, renovating our house to return to.

Got another inch of rain overnight, 3rd night in a row of heavy rain. Too much of a good thing. You can make mudballs in the garden. Crops on hills are thriving. In the flat drowning and turning yellow. Got some hay made but lots to go.

Off to sleep.

Prayers for those in need

Good morning,

More rain overnight but it has been a steady rain and we need what we have got. Some close by are under water.. Should end today. Corn is already over your head here. When I was a kid you wanted to see knee high corn by the 4th of July.

Been a busy week for me.  Hot and humid.  Wifey's big deck on side of house is 99% done.  Mow and chores until an event in Raleigh at 4 PM.  Who does a big Human Services center opening event on Friday afternoon? !!!

Have a good one.

Good afternoon all, just checking in.

That scheduled maintenence by the Edison power company was cancelled after we preped for it for a week letting everything run down in the ice box etc.  postponed until July 9th.  The bird I'm baby sitting this week was happy though.  No A/C this time of year would be brutal.  Hardly go in the garage now with the heat but I'm happy with those lift outs that Don put in for me when I do have to get in there.  Saves a lot of stooping and bending for an old man.  Went out to breakfast with my train buddies this morning.  One of them is having knee surgery next Tuesday.  He already had the other one done and will be glad to get it over with.  I went to the dermatologist about my fungus on the feet.  She gave me some new meds and it seems to be working.  Went for blood test for my regular M.D. and will see him next week.  Our traditional jazz club is meeting this coming Sunday in Duarte.  Plan on going to that with a friend.  My oldest son and his family have been on a driving trip to Colorado last week and are starting home today.  They are breaking in a new Toyota.  Have a nice weekend,

Ray

Evening all!

Busy day today but not productive. Spent an inordinate amount of time locating the oil, oil filter, and fuel filters for the boat. Had to go 30 mi to get the stuff, so hopefully finish the oil change and new fuel filters (uses 2 filters) tomorrow.

Had some rain today and it was needed.

Banks - continued prayers for your daughter.

Ray - good to be hearing from you again!

Eye surgery Wednesday turned out well.  The spot that looked a big bug splat on your windshield is now gone.

Today i bit the bullet and bought my first Lionel O gauge.  New York Central starter kit.  Drove two hours each way to a nice train store.  Friendly folks.

made the mistake of checking prices after getting home.

Lionel online price.  $259.99

Amazon $182.87

Trainworld. $159.99

Train store   $279.95

These all had the same sku number.

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work.  Good weather for walk outside.  Watched 2 World Cup matches tonight.  Foyt team about where I expected for Road America.  Good news, bad news day on the home front.  Good news:  Younger daughter got hired for a better job close to where she will be soon living with future husband.  Bad news ( and this may be a gut punch for some of the long time people here)  Lucas' wife left him today and took their daughter with her.  Long, complicated story.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Mornin' boys.  Damp and 61 in the Potomac Highlands.  I'm on the morning train; Alexis is on the evening train.  Hence I'll be around the train all today... Speaking of trains, Thursday I was doing my narration as we were passing under the B&O Viaduct (downtown Cumberland, MD), and commented that a CSX STACK train was going over, as we were traveling under.  Found out when we returned that the Double stack cars damaged 2 of the west side bridges.  That CSX train should have never been on that line.  A: there are no intermodal facilities between Cumberland, MD and Grafton, WV; B: there are low bridges just south of the viaduct; and C: CSX already damaged the Washington Street bridge less than a year ago when they sent an autorack car down that line.  BTW, there are no auto unloading facilities between Cumberland and Grafton, either...

cheapclassics - I know what you're going through.  Hopefully, your boy will rise up.

Banks - Continued thoughts for your daughter.  You are such a loving father and granddad.

Dougnotta - I've been taking everybody's advice, and leaving the feeder down a few days.  I think the bear has moved on, because it's left the hummer feeders be.

cnw1995 - Performed any jibes or tacks this season...?

Hello there,

yesterday was another inside day. Rain overnight and most of the day. Breakfast with a group from church, a visit with Mom, grocery store and a nap. Then finished the day with my 1st visit to a relay for life. Very interesting and thought provoking even though it was abbreviated by rain.

Got my 1st SS check on Thursday. The rest of you still working are gonna have to step it up. Also included was a note telling me I need to set up direct deposit.

Doug......got faith you'll make it to 10.

Mike.......bummer about Lucas. I'll add a prayer it'll all work out.

Started this last night and crashed but managed not to lose it.

So far today it's overcast. Supposed to be warmer with a 50% chance of thunderstorms. 30 % tomorrow. We really don't need any more rain. Hoping tomorrow's hillclimb isn't the 3rd in a row in the rain.

Best move on.

Prayers for those in need

Good morning, Slept till 9:00??

64 with 98% humidity, heading to 75 and clouds. Guess that will be okay for that party this afternoon at the son's house.

Think I may mow the grass around the house if it is dry enough before we leave.

MikeC prayers for Lucas, Hope they broke up just because they disagree. He will be fine as time goes on. My prayers for his daughter as well and you Grandpa. Angel

Well better make something to eat first before I get started.

Have a good day!

Cloudy w/rain on and off all weekend. High of 78. It rained earlier for about 10 minutes. At least we got our club meet in last Saturday. You know where to find the video although it might be off of page one by now. Charlie and one of the guys set me up for a pic holding a DCS controller. Oh the shame.

Evening All!

After a lousy rainy start today, the rest of the day has turned out quite nice.

I was supposed to go golfing today with my Sunday morning hockey team, but on the way, my stupid right rear brake seized on the Caravan! The rotor was almost red when I took a look!! Chrysler did a HORRIBLE job on that brake design. Lots of others having similar issues. Ugh....

DougDG - That was quite the mess!. There must have been a washout. The water looked level with the track.

MikeC - Sorry to hear about your son. Been there, done that, bought the shirt. It's tough on the whole family.

Fife - Wow. You would think CSX would have operating rules for that section of track for height restrictions, etc.

Gnone - Too bad on the purchase. That's always the never ending debate on whether to support local or buy online.

Roy - Hopefully you can get the "toys" back in the water....

Have a good one and prayers.

Rob

Good evening all,

Watched 3 World Cup matches.  Foyt team had a bad day qualifying.  Son reported wife only took her stuff and left enough for him to manage on his own.  Could have been worse.  Thanks for all the support.  I will pass it on to him.  Life happens.  Did get the yard mowed except for the "lake" out back. I hope everyone has a good day.

Hello there,

a rainy fun weekend. Saturday morning everything was soggy so a couple hours at our house. In the afternoon I decided to mow. Really to wet but did it anyway. Lot's of muddy tracks.

Grandson's last ball game at 8PM. Saw a beautiful double rainbow while driving into a rain storm on the way. No rain at the field so the game was on. Last game for the older kids so the Mom's were coaching. A fun game til the lights went out. Staff was lost so I volunteered to help. Found a blown fuse and the search was on for a replacement. About 40 minutes was lost but the game continued.

The hill was muddy but good traction was available. Lot's of rider's and things moved well until the downpour just after the 2nd round started. We lost about an hour but we cleaned out the hole and the breaker with the bobcat. The Sun was back and once we started things moved well. The last rider was about 715. After helping clean up I got home about 845. Son managed a 1st place in the 400 class.

Daughter meets the doc on Wednesday to learn where she goes from here.

Best get on with the day.

Prayers for those in need

Morning all!

Been without power on and off since yesterday afternoon. Storms took down a bunch of trees. Generator kicks on as expected but internet and phone were out. Finally came on somewhat reliably this morning.

Appears everyone had a busy weekend so pot is summer-time slow!

Rob - got the boat and waverunners back in the water and the lift cable mods I did the last couple of weeks look good so far! Amazes me how some 1/4" wire rope lifts a couple of tons...

Morning,

Normal start to a Monday, Our dehumidifier took a dump and I have been on hold with Frigidair for ever.

This thing won't be 2 years old till Aug. POS just like the new Frigidair fridge. Both are junk. And now I see their customer service matches.

Well after 45 minutes they had me send in the S/N tag and prof of purchase Certified mail and said they will send me a new one or send me my money. We will see how long that takes.

The last few days we have had two Does with small Fawns in the yard out front. It is funny watching the moms trying to keep up with the Fawns running around and playing. Looks like they get a work out.

The kids just want to have fun. One ran head first into Jim's mesh fence around his garden and landed on his rear. Took awhile for the fawn to shake it off but it did. Laugh

MikeC, Indy cars were at what I think is one of the best places there it. Road America !!  Yes  That place is a great track.

Banks, prayers for good news for your daughter. Angel

Quick pass through.  Early out as doing chores in the hot and humid.  Suppose to be a "cold front" coming through later with some rain showers.  No such thing as a COLD front in the summer.

Fife.....Years ago before NS ran the double stacks from Portsmouth, Ohio to Columbus, Ohio, I took a survey crew out and measured the clearance on several bridges.  On truss bridges, normally there is a piece of bracing that can snag the top container if the train is rocking too much. Rip out the bracing, bend a load carrying member and boom, you have a bridge out.
I wonder if someone erroneously thought they could sneak through.Whistling

Good evening all,

My oldest son and his family got back home safely from Colorado Saturday.  They picked up the bird I was baby sitting on Sunday.  That little bugger was good company for a while.  Went to my traditional jazz club on Sunday afternoon.  Heard some great musicians and had a good time.  I won a CD of one of my favorite bands in a raffle.  Someone else was giving away some old 33rpm record albums and some newer CD's.  I got about 10 33l/3 records and two new CD's  Lot of music to listen to at home.  A lot of those records were from The Dukes of Dixieland, a group that retired in 1974 with the death of the trumpet player and leader.  I had one of their first albums that I brought to California with me in 1958.  They still sound fresh to me.  Another group has adopted their name currently but I hear that is tied up in the courts.  Got some bad news too this weekend.  My cousin in Maryland had a massive heart attack but is surviving.  He is doing good in the hospital with a stent. I have a regular doctor appointment tomorrow.  Several things bothering me that I need to ask about.  I think I'm getting arthritis in my knees.  Hurts when I stand up after sitting a long time.  I pulled a dumb stunt yesterday.  Turned on the fill water to my pool and forgot to turn it off.  It was running over this morning because I do not have an overflow drain.  Took me about an hour to pump the excess out.  Probably get a big water bill next time.  The water is warm enough to swim now but I don't go in unless somebody else is here with me.  Neighbor brought me some goodies Sunday morning.  Pancakes and muffins plus sausages and brownies.  He is retiring next week from our school district after putting in 36 years with them.

Have a good week,

Ray

Good evening all,

Cooler than expected day.  Good weather for walk.  Semi-quiet day at work.  Practiced with Junior high kids.  Trimmed some trees.  Watched Iran vs. Portugal.  Magnificent match.  Watching that match and some others made me think perhaps we should solve our issues on the soccer pitch....maybe not.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good morning all!

Not much to report. Weather has been crazy. Hot/ humid on tap.

Ray - I started getting knee pain from cholesterol statins (and other joint pain) - my doc cut me back to every other day on the statin and after sevearl months the pain is gone. If you take statins you might discuss this with the doc. Prayers for your cousin Angel

Buckeye - hmmm, a bridge where you can take out a brace and it collaspses - sounds like a cool layout accessory!

MikeC - after some of the riots at soccer stadiums in recent years, maybe not Black Eye

Kev - we have had bad experience with LG room A/Cs, and similarly with the Fridgidaire refrigerator - but did get a full warranty replacement without much hassle.

A beautiful summer day,,,,,,,till the rain arrrives tonight.

Kev we have the same brand fridge & freezer and the repairman said when asked, don't let the warranty run out. I did however find their customer service good but ours was for in house warranty work.
