lionchief confusion

I understand the difference between LC and. LC+. My question is what happens if you have a conventional block wired transformer controlled layout? Do you just turn on all the blocks and turn the transforner up to 18 volts? What happens if you turn the voltage down while running? If you turn a block off or to other transformer. Do you have to use the power supply/track section specifically for LC? Sorry if this has been asked before.

They will run on any 3 rail track with any regular type of transformer. You can turn the voltage down but remember you need enough to run the engine.

You will need all the blocks on where the train will be running.

Thanks that clears up a lot. One more ? What would happen if it accidentally crosses into a block powering a conventional engine? Will it harm the engine? Just stall??

For this scenario to work properly the two block areas of the layout must be powered by phased power supplies or there can be a short.

.Lion Chief + can be run with it's remote or the transformer alone just as any conventional engine can. If you are running with the remote and your engine goes from an 18v area to a reduced power area the remote controlled LC engine will slow down reflecting whatever the voltage level is in the new area. If you were running conventional, sans remote then the engine will speed up or down depending on the power setting and you could lose control if the new block is operated by another transformer.
