Good morning all,

Well, the Thaksgiving dinner went off on time.  However my DIL did not get home from her parents house until just in time to come to ours with my son and grandson.  Therefore we had to highball the horderves and snacks because the main meal was ready.  In retrospect, we should have invited her parents too but I was under the assumtion that her other daughter and her family were entertaining the parents.  Duh!

The new meat thermometer worked like a charm.  I think my old one was lying.  This one shot right up to the right temp. right away even if it looks like  a water meter.

We're getting a few scattered showers this morning.  At least enough to water the lawn.  Gray skies to turn sunny by afternoon they say.

Chief and Laz are on the hunt for the elusive multipointed bucks this weekend.  Maybe Laz will finally get one with a real rifle instead of that muzzle loader.

U.P. Big Boy is parked for the holiday weekend but I don't think the crew has much more to do until the big move to the main line next month.  They all went back to Cheyenne for the weekend.

Need to get out to the garage for a train fix.

later,

Ray

Ohayƍ (Good morning Chuck),

I hope you have all recovered from the Thanksgiving and Black Friday festivities.  It’s a sunny but crisp Saturday here.  We may start decorating today, but we are hosting a neighborhood block party this afternoon/evening.  One of our neighbors is hosting it with us as the party is to celebrate his and my recent promotions.  I presume the party may take up most of our time today so we’ll probably end up decorating tomorrow after church.  It’s just about lunchtime here and my goal is to finish the leftovers.

Joe

Banks, so sorry to here of your Mrs. broken arm.  Hope she is not in any bad pain until you can get it set.  Is a hospital emergency room too far away?  Anyway, prayers for a good outcome.

Banks...Breaking anything is not fun.  Hope your Mom heals real fast.

Yesterday, I cleaned and cleaned engine wheels.  How does that crud build up so heavy?  Goo-gone and cotton swaps in addition to hitting some of the wheels the Scotch Brite rotary tool cleaned them great.  Track cleaning scheduled for tomorrow.

Konnichiwa and Ohayo Chuck,

Yesterday’s block party was quite fun.  The temperature dropped significantly once the sun set but we had two fires going which kept us comfortable.  I was able to watch the second half of the PSU-Wisconsin game this morning and I was greatly pleased with the result.  We just returned from Sunday school and church and finished some party leftovers for lunch (the Thanksgiving leftovers were finished yesterday for lunch).  Once the wife and youngest wake up from their Sunday afternoon naps, we’ll start decorating the house.

Banks – I’m sorry about your wife’s wrist.  I hope she heals quickly.

Sayonara,

Joe

Good evening all,

Sorry to have been away for a few days.  For some reason IE and the forum are not working on my PC and I tried Firefox on the laptop and now I am here.   Thanksgiving day was about as perfect as it can get.  All 3 of my kids were together for the first time in over a year, my sister and her family were with us, and it was a great day.  Not that it mattered, but the Lions won as well and Selena Gomez did a halftime show.  The family had a great meal at Ryan's Steak House in Terre Haute and the staff at the Spring Hill Suites did a great job in having a nice conference room for us to gather afterwards.   Lucas said it best, "Today is a good day."  We signed the car over to him and set him up with his own insurance for the next 6 months.  He is on his own now.   He told us he got a raise at work, and hopefully will be on permanent status by February.   The weather was good and traffic was not bad.   I will try to catch up on all the posts tomorrow.  We did major Christmas shopping today.  Most of it is done.  We went to the Mayberry Cafe in Danville, IN today.  Atmosphere was what we expected.  Food was good, but service was horribly slow.  Would be worth going to....once.  Not sure we will do it again.  Glad to be back.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
